We are delighted to share some good news for our community. [Cranleigh League of Friends] has agreed to fund an extension of our service — helping Surrey Hills Rehab reach more local people living with long-term neurological conditions, closer to home.
Since 2017, our aim has been a simple one: to make specialist rehabilitation accessible to as many people as possible, whatever their circumstances. This grant is a significant step towards that, and we are grateful to [Cranleigh League of Friends] for making it possible.
What the funding will help us do
Some of the conditions we support already have a little charitable funding behind them — our Parkinson’s and MS groups, for example. Others have had none, which has meant people either self-funding their sessions or going without. This grant is intended to help close that gap.
Exactly how the funding is directed is still being finalised together with Cranleigh League of Friends, but it is expected to help across several areas, including:
A stroke rehabilitation course — group exercise and peer support for people who have finished their NHS stroke rehabilitation and want to keep progressing.
An FND course — group exercise and peer support for people living with Functional Neurological Disorder, a condition with very little specialist provision locally.
Occupational therapy for fatigue and upper-limb management — practical assessment and advice to help with everyday tasks and energy.
A bursary scheme — for people whose needs are better met one-to-one or by a wider team (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy) than in a group setting.
A shared commitment
A grant like this is a commitment on both sides. Cranleigh League of Friends has committed the funding; our commitment is to use it well. That means assessing each person’s needs properly, directing support to where it makes the most difference, and keeping track of the outcomes so we — and our funders — can see the difference it makes. As places become available, we will assess need and prioritise fairly.
Who this is for
If you or someone you care for is living with a neurological condition — including stroke or FND — and you think you might benefit, we would love to hear from you. Everyone starts with an individual assessment, so we can understand your goals and make sure the right support is in place for you.
How to register your interest
Places will be limited, and we expect demand to be high. To register your interest or ask a question, please [contact us / call the team / use the contact form]. We will be in touch as the new sessions are confirmed.
